Halo Infinite Arrives as Project Scarlett Launch Title in Holiday 2020

Microsoft confirms Halo Infinite as a launch game for its next-generation Project Scarlett console, arriving in Holiday 2020. The new trailer shows Master Chief returning to his classic armor in what developers call a spiritual reboot of the franchise.

A new E3 2019 trailer officially confirms that Halo Infinite serves as a launch title for Microsoft's next-generation Project Scarlett console. The highly anticipated game is scheduled to arrive during the Holiday 2020 window, giving fans a specific timeframe for when they can finally play the next chapter in the iconic franchise.

Developer 343 Industries describes this upcoming installment as a "spiritual reboot" of the series, which explains why it is the first core Halo game to drop the numbered naming convention. The story continues directly after the events of Halo 5: Guardians, but Master Chief notably returns to his classic armor design, leaving behind the visual changes seen in the previous two games.

This reveal marks the first major update since the game's initial announcement at E3 2018, though actual gameplay footage remains under wraps. As the seventh main entry in the console franchise, Halo Infinite ends a more than five-year wait between core releases and requires players to start saving for the new Project Scarlett hardware.
