The largest single round goes to Vancouver-based legal tech company Clio, which secures $900 million in growth funding led by NEA. This massive investment highlights the strength of vertical SaaS, as Clio hits $200 million in annual recurring revenue by managing processes for thousands of mid-sized law firms.
Healthcare, biotech, and artificial intelligence companies command the spotlight by each capturing roughly 25% of the total monthly funding. Healthcare and biotech lead the pack with $6 billion raised, while AI companies secure around $5.8 billion on the heels of a record-breaking second quarter. Major AI recipients include Baichuan Intelligence with $687 million, Cohere with $500 million, and defense AI company Helsing with $489 million.
Large financial exits also make waves as Lineage Logistics conducts the biggest IPO of 2024 so far, raising $4.4 billion at an $18 billion valuation. Additionally, cloud data storage company Nasuni experiences a $1.2 billion majority acquisition by Vista Equity Partners, marking the fifth cloud software buyout above $1 billion this year. Hardware and financial services round out the top funded sectors, raising $3.3 billion and $2.6 billion respectively.
