HealthJoy Overhauls Benefits Platform as Employee Usage Surges During Pandemic
HealthJoy unveils a revamped interface and cloud-based technology stack to manage doubled demand for its employee benefits assistance platform. The updated system makes it easier for workers to access telemedicine, mental health support, and healthcare concierge services.
HealthJoy launches a completely revamped version of its employee benefits assistance platform, known as HealthJoy 2.0, to better serve its growing user base. The startup reports that platform usage doubles during the COVID-19 pandemic as employees seek new ways to navigate their healthcare options without visiting a doctor's office. Although the underlying technology overhaul takes two years to develop, the timely release helps the company manage a massive surge in demand for remote healthcare services.
The updated interface introduces several helpful features designed to improve the user experience, including a new benefits wallet and expected wait times for healthcare concierge services. To address the ongoing pandemic, the platform also provides tools to help employees locate nearby testing sites, access online medical consultations, and find in-network facilities with short wait times. Furthermore, HealthJoy actively encourages the use of its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which sees a corresponding spike in utilization as workers seek mental health counseling, financial planning, and care assistance.
By shifting more processing power from local clients to the cloud and updating its CRM and employer dashboards, HealthJoy builds a stronger foundation for future updates. The company currently supports over 500 employers and holds $53 million in total raised funding, putting it in a solid position to compete against similar platforms like Collective Health and League. This robust cloud architecture allows for deeper partner integration, a broader collection of APIs, and seamless connections with third-party data sources.
