Huawei Reveals Mate X Foldable Smartphone to Challenge Samsung

Huawei unveils the Mate X, a new foldable smartphone designed to compete directly with Samsung's Galaxy Fold. The device features a "Falcon Wing" design that expands from a 6.6-inch phone into an 8-inch tablet. Unlike its rival, the Mate X folds outward to keep the display visible on both the front and back when closed.
The smartphone boasts impressive hardware, including a multi-lens Leica camera system with 40-megapixel, 16-megapixel, and 8-megapixel lenses. It also includes a built-in 5G modem for future network compatibility and a 4,500mAh battery that charges to 85 percent in just 30 minutes using Huawei's 55W SuperCharge technology.
Priced at 2,300 euros or roughly $2,600, the Mate X costs significantly more than the $1,980 Galaxy Fold. Consumers in the United States will likely never see the device due to ongoing conflicts between Huawei and the US government. The Mate X goes on sale globally in June or July, arriving a few months after Samsung's device.
