Ilya Sutskever's AI Startup Reaches $32 Billion Valuation After New Funding

Safe Superintelligence, the AI company founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, raises an additional $2 billion at a massive $32 billion valuation. The startup focuses solely on building a secure superintelligence despite currently having only a placeholder website.

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), the AI startup led by OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, raises an additional $2 billion in funding at a $32 billion valuation. This massive financial boost comes shortly after the company's initial $1 billion raise and follows previous reports of an ongoing funding round. Greenoaks reportedly leads this latest investment round, though SSI declines to officially comment on the news.

Sutskever departs OpenAI in May 2024 following his involvement in an unsuccessful attempt to remove CEO Sam Altman. He subsequently founds SSI alongside Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy with a highly focused mission statement. The founders declare that the company has exactly "one goal and one product: a safe superintelligence."

Despite its extraordinary multi-billion-dollar valuation, the company does not yet have a commercial product available to the public. SSI's website currently remains a simple placeholder that displays only the organization's core mission statement. The actual safe superintelligence technology is presumably still under active development behind closed doors.
