Apple's iOS 18 update brings highly publicized features like Home Screen customization and a redesigned Control Center, but it also includes a variety of hidden improvements. One significant change is a cleaner Settings app that moves all app-specific settings into a dedicated "Apps" menu. This update reduces endless scrolling and makes it much easier for users to locate specific application controls.
The Photos app receives a massive upgrade with new tools for organizing and viewing media. Users can now hide screenshots from their main library view and utilize new utility categories for documents, receipts, and QR codes. Additionally, the app automatically groups people and pets together, organizes travel photos into a Trips section, and allows users to copy editing adjustments from one photo to another.
The Camera app resolves a long-standing frustration by keeping music playing through Bluetooth earphones while taking photos or recording videos. Apple also adds a new five-second timer option to the existing timer selections. Furthermore, the redesigned Control Center now features a convenient power button in the top-right corner, eliminating the need to physically hold the side button and volume down to power off the device.
