iRobot Unveils Communicating Roomba and Braava for Tag-Team Floor Cleaning

iRobot unveils the Roomba s9+ and Braava Jet m6, a new pair of cleaning robots that communicate with each other to tackle dirty floors. The flagship s9+ features a completely redesigned, flat-front shape that breaks away from the brand's traditional circular puck design to allow the vacuum to reach much closer to walls and corners.
This new "PerfectEdge" technology utilizes a corner brush with five arms to grab dirt that older models miss, while an upgraded 3D sensor scans for obstacles 25 times a second to improve navigation. The vacuum still works with a self-emptying Clean Base, though it requires a different connector than previous generations and is not cross-compatible with older docks.
The true innovation comes from the new Imprint Link technology, which allows the Roomba vacuum and the Braava mop to take turns cleaning the same space through the iRobot Home app. Company CEO Colin Angle describes this coordinated approach as part of "iRobot 2.0," representing a major step toward integrating cleaning robots into the broader smart home ecosystem alongside voice assistants.
