The Ukrainian company Respeecher creates this digital clone using a GAN-based neural audio enhancer that makes synthetic speech indistinguishable from the original speaker.
The AI-generated voice already appears in the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries on Disney+, where producers need a younger version of the villain's baritone to match the timeline between Star Wars Episodes III and IV. Respeecher achieves this by using a neural network to add missing details and increase the effective sampling rate of limited bandwidth recordings.
This agreement allows the 91-year-old actor to officially step back from the legendary role while ensuring his specific vocal legacy continues within the franchise. Respeecher continues to operate out of Ukraine and applies this same audio super resolution technology across various content creation industries.
