Internationally, the dark character study brings in an impressive $351.2 million, bringing its global total to approximately $543.9 million. This massive financial success pushes the film past the halfway point toward the highly coveted $1 billion milestone.
Along with breaking monthly records, "Joker" becomes the highest-grossing movie of all time for stars Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro, easily surpassing the lifetime totals of "Gladiator" and "Meet the Fockers" respectively. The film also stands as the second most successful project for director Todd Phillips, trailing only "The Hangover Part II."
