KT Corporation showcases its latest 5G technologies and services at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona as it prepares for the world's first full-scale commercial 5G launch in March. Under the slogan "Now a Reality, KT 5G and the Next Intelligent Platform," the South Korean telecom leader demonstrates innovative applications ranging from AI robots to flying rescue systems. CEO Hwang Chang-Gyu, earning the nickname "Mr. 5G" for his dedication to the technology, highlights how this next mobile revolution transforms the user experience through maximum versatility and immersion.

During his keynote speech, Mr. 5G fulfills a bold promise he makes at MWC 2015 by officially announcing the arrival of a commercial 5G network in 2019. He explains that the new era connects a wide array of devices, including neckband cameras and AR glasses, to improve daily life. The executive builds on the company's previous success at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, where KT provides the world's first 5G trial services featuring 360-degree VR live streaming that later becomes an international standard.

After launching its commercial network, KT focuses on five key areas: smart cities, smart factories, connected cars, 5G media, and the 5G cloud. The company actively collaborates with various private businesses and the Korean government to develop robust B2B and B2G services. Having already deployed the first phase of its 5G network in late 2018, KT currently paves the way for a fully connected future.
