The 2021 AI100 Study Panel Report is now available, providing a detailed look at how artificial intelligence propagates through society. As part of a century-long initiative to track AI over time, this second edition follows the original 2016 publication and features analysis from a team of highly experienced AI experts.
The study targets four main audiences: the general public, industry leaders, government officials, and AI researchers. It is structured as a collection of in-depth responses to 12 standing questions and two workshop questions posed by the AI100 Standing Committee, covering topics from language processing and robotics to public sentiment and government regulation.
Key areas of focus in the report include the most important advances in underlying AI technologies, the prospects for more general artificial intelligence, and the mysteries of human intelligence. The document also explores how public sentiment towards AI evolves and offers guidance on how governments should act to ensure AI is developed and used responsibly.
