LG Unveils 48-Inch OLED, 8K Displays, and Gallery Series at CES 2020
LG introduces a compact 48-inch 4K OLED TV, showcases impressive 8K displays, and launches a flush-mount GX Gallery Series at CES 2020. The new lineup also features intelligent Dolby Vision IQ technology that automatically adapts to room lighting.
LG showcases an impressive lineup of televisions at CES 2020, highlighted by a massive 8K OLED display and a highly anticipated 48-inch 4K OLED screen. The smaller OLED model appeals to PC gamers and buyers who find previous large-screen models too big or expensive, offering pixel density that matches a 96-inch 8K TV. Alongside these, LG demonstrates its rollable OLED TV that finally goes on sale later this year, though it lacks newer features like ATSC 3.0 antenna compatibility.
The company introduces the new GX Gallery Series as a streamlined alternative to its existing ultrathin wallpaper OLEDs. Unlike previous models that require a separate external processing box, the 20mm thick GX series hides all components directly behind the screen. This design allows the television to hang completely flat against the wall like a picture frame, and it is available in 55-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes.
New software features across the 2020 OLED lineup include Dolby Vision IQ and Filmmaker Mode. Dolby Vision IQ intelligently adjusts the TV's picture settings based on the ambient lighting in the room, ensuring viewers experience content as the creators mastered it regardless of glare or changing light conditions. LG also integrates HGiG support to further refine the high dynamic range gaming and viewing experience.
