Lincoln Unveils Futuristic Model L 100 EV Concept for Its Centennial
Lincoln celebrates 100 years by revealing the Model L 100, an autonomous electric grand tourer concept that blends 1920s art deco styling with a futuristic, chessboard-controlled cabin. The design exercise hints at the brand's direction as it aims to electrify half of its lineup by mid-century.
Lincoln reveals the Model L 100 concept during Monterey Car Week to celebrate its centennial, showcasing an autonomous, battery-electric grand tourer that honors the brand's original 1922 Model L. The massive vehicle features a low-slung aerodynamic body, a sweeping glass roof, and reverse-hinged doors that open to create a welcoming "Lincoln Embrace."
The exterior combines a frosted acrylic and metallic blue paint job with 1920s art deco touches like a hood ornament and a Kammback rear end for improved aerodynamics. Intelligent wheel covers use lighting and sensors to communicate motion, battery life, and human presence to the outside world.
Inside, the cabin ditches a traditional steering wheel for a jewel-inspired chess piece controller on an interactive center console. The space uses recycled amethyst suede and features front seats that flip to face rear passengers, serving as a design exercise to explore future features as Lincoln pushes to electrify half of its offerings by 2050.
