Los Angeles Venture Firm March Capital Closes $300 Million Fund

March Capital Partners raises $300 million to invest in artificial intelligence and computing infrastructure startups. The firm also targets opportunities in the growing eSports sector and the emerging tech market in India.

March Capital Partners, a venture capital firm based in Los Angeles, raises $300 million for its latest fund. This significant milestone highlights the growing maturity of the Los Angeles technology ecosystem and validates the firm's focused investment strategies. Managing director Sumant Mandal explains that two-thirds of the firm's portfolio consists of AI-driven businesses, while the remaining focus goes toward internet and computing infrastructure.

The firm actively supports specialized incubators like The Hive for artificial intelligence and The Fabric for infrastructure to build a strong pipeline of innovative startups. Beyond these core areas, March Capital also places strategic bets on the rising eSports and gaming sectors. Additionally, the firm looks abroad at India, where government policies and a massive demand for new financial services create strong market opportunities for technology businesses.

Previous portfolio successes, such as the VMWare acquisition of VeloCloud for $449 million and the growth of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, reinforce the effectiveness of this targeted approach. Managing director Jamie Montgomery notes that the firm plans for a long-term twenty-year cycle by focusing primarily on resilient enterprise software businesses. This strategy ensures that their investments survive potential economic downturns that Montgomery expects in the near future.
