Famed venture capitalist Mary Meeker names her new independent firm Bond and targets $1.25 billion for its debut growth fund. The fund features a $1.5 billion hard cap and marks a historic milestone, as Meeker is set to become the first woman to raise a $1 billion-plus VC fund.
Meeker brings along Kleiner Perkins partners Mood Rowghani, Noah Knauf, and Juliet de Baubigny as she spins out of her previous firm. During her eight years at Kleiner Perkins, she backs major tech companies like Airbnb, Houzz, Slack, and Peloton after spending two decades as a managing director at Morgan Stanley.
The official launch of Bond follows Kleiner Perkins' confirmation in September that it is spinning out its growth team as an independent entity. With her legendary annual Internet Trends Report as a backdrop, Meeker now focuses entirely on scaling this massive new growth-stage investment vehicle.
