Mawi Heart Patch Replaces Clunky Monitors With Disposable EKG Solution
Mawi launches a single-use, two-lead cardiac monitor that offers real-time EKG readings while letting patients live their normal lives.
Mawi releases the Heart Patch, a single-use, two-lead cardiac monitor that provides real-time EKG readings to replace traditional, cumbersome Holter monitors. The company claims this is the first disposable two-lead cardiac monitor on the market, offering a stick-and-go wireless solution that eliminates the need for sanitizing and maintaining reusable equipment.
Traditional Holter monitors resemble heavy 1980s Walkmans with tangled wires that restrict daily activities, but Mawi's patch applies in under a minute and stays securely attached. Patients shower, sleep, exercise, and engage in all normal activities while wearing the device, which solves the common issues of dislodging, peeling, and allergic reactions associated with older monitoring methods.
Because older monitors are so restrictive, Mawi reports that over 50% of arrhythmias currently go undetected and patients often wait up to a month for results. The Heart Patch addresses this critical gap in cardiovascular care by enabling continuous, unobtrusive monitoring that helps doctors catch dangerous heart conditions before they become fatal.
