Meta Forms New Generative AI Team to Rival Chatbot Competitors
Mark Zuckerberg announces a dedicated generative AI team at Meta to integrate chatbots and visual tools into WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
Mark Zuckerberg announces a new top-level product group at Meta that focuses entirely on generative AI. This dedicated team brings together dozens of employees from across the company to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence tools.
The initial focus involves integrating AI text chats into WhatsApp and Messenger, as well as creating advanced visual filters for Instagram photos and videos. Meta plans to develop specific AI personas to assist users in a variety of everyday ways.
This move directly counters similar recent launches from competitors like Snap, Microsoft, and Google. Led by machine learning executive Ahmad Al-Dahle and reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, this new group follows the recent release of Meta's own large language model, LLaMA.
