These agreements support the company's goal of building personal superintelligence by providing the firm electricity required for massive AI infrastructure. The deals follow a formal nuclear request for proposal process and make Meta one of the largest corporate purchasers of nuclear energy in American history.
The financial commitment bolsters both next-generation and existing nuclear power. Meta supports advanced reactor development through its partnerships with Oklo and TerraPower, while its work with Vistra extends the operational lifespan and increases energy production at existing plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The generated power directly feeds the electric grids that support Meta's Prometheus supercluster in New Albany, Ohio.
These nuclear projects deliver significant economic benefits while strengthening the national power grid. By 2035, the initiatives support up to 6.6 gigawatts of new and existing clean energy and create thousands of construction and long-term operational jobs. Meta pays the full energy costs for its data centers so everyday consumers do not bear these expenses, ensuring that AI innovation directly reinforces America's energy supply chain without burdening local communities.
