Meta reports an 11% increase in second-quarter revenue, bringing total earnings to $32 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2023. The company attributes this financial growth to a 34% year-over-year surge in ad impressions across its Family of Apps, even though the average price per ad decreases by 16%. Net income also rises by 16% to reach $7.78 billion, while diluted earnings per share hit $2.98.
User engagement across Meta's platforms continues to climb, with Family daily active people (DAP) reaching an average of 3.07 billion for June 2023, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Facebook specifically sees its daily active users grow by 5% to 2.06 billion. Monthly active users across the entire Meta family also grow by 6% to total 3.88 billion.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlights a promising product roadmap that fuels this positive momentum. Key upcoming and recent launches include the Llama 2 artificial intelligence model, the new Threads app, the expansion of Reels, and the anticipated fall release of the Quest 3 headset. Despite these ambitious projects, Meta keeps its operating margin steady at 29% while managing $22.61 billion in total costs and expenses.
