Meta Unveils $1,499 Quest Pro Headset Focused on Workplace Productivity
Meta introduces the premium Quest Pro VR headset, shifting focus from budget accessibility to high-end mixed reality features. The device boasts full-color passthrough, eye-tracking, and a steep price tag aimed at professionals.
Meta reveals the Quest Pro, a premium virtual reality headset that breaks away from the company's budget-friendly approach with a staggering $1,499 price point. Unlike the mass-market Quest 2, Meta positions this new device specifically as a productivity tool for professionals rather than a mainstream gaming console.
The headset pushes technical boundaries by introducing full-color passthrough cameras that blend digital content with the user's real-world environment for mixed reality experiences. It also features thinner "pancake" lenses, a Snapdragon XR2+ chipset, mini-LED displays, 12 GB of RAM, and built-in eye-tracking. Additionally, the controllers ditch the traditional tracking rings in favor of onboard cameras.
Despite the impressive hardware upgrades, the Quest Pro suffers from a significant limitation with a battery life of just one to two hours. Consumers can preorder the device today, with official shipping scheduled to begin on October 25.
