Microsoft renames Copilot for Microsoft 365 to Microsoft 365 Copilot and removes the previous seat minimums for its commercial plans. This change allows small and medium-sized businesses to access the generative AI tool without needing to purchase a large number of licenses. Major companies like Visa, BP, and Pfizer already use the technology to transform their daily workflows.
The tech giant introduces Copilot Pro, a new $20 per month subscription built specifically for individual users. This premium tier offers priority access to advanced models like OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo during peak usage times. Subscribers also gain the ability to use the AI assistant within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote when they have an active Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan.
Copilot Pro includes commercial data protection at no extra cost when users sign in with a Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring chat data remains private and is not used to train foundation models. Additionally, the subscription provides enhanced AI image creation capabilities and will soon allow users to build custom Copilot GPTs tailored to specific topics through a dedicated builder tool.
