Microsoft Azure Percept Simplifies Edge AI Deployment

Microsoft introduces Azure Percept, a new hardware and software platform that brings artificial intelligence capabilities directly to edge devices without requiring deep coding expertise.

Microsoft unveils the public preview of Azure Percept, a comprehensive platform designed to bring Azure AI services directly to edge devices. The system combines Azure Percept Studio, a no-code software environment for developing and deploying machine learning models, with specialized hardware components like the Azure Percept Vision intelligent camera and the Azure Percept Audio microphone accessory.

This new platform simplifies edge AI by offering a drag-and-drop interface and pre-built sample models for tasks such as detecting faces, people, and vehicles. It integrates seamlessly with existing Azure services like Custom Vision, enabling users to quickly train and deploy custom models even if they lack advanced AI expertise.

Azure Percept enters a growing market where hardware and software advances make it easier to embed AI in edge environments. Competitors like AWS offer similar industrial-focused edge devices, but Microsoft aims to stand out by providing a highly integrated, user-friendly solution that optimizes for power consumption, size, and varying operating environments.
