Microsoft Azure Percept Simplifies Edge AI Development
Microsoft launches Azure Percept, a comprehensive platform that makes it easy to build and deploy edge AI solutions without requiring data scientist expertise.
Companies increasingly demand real-time responses from their physical devices, pushing cloud strategies to include edge and hybrid investments. While extending artificial intelligence to the edge unlocks new business scenarios, developing these technologies traditionally requires extensive data science skills and custom architectural work.
Microsoft addresses this challenge by introducing Azure Percept, a comprehensive platform that simplifies edge AI from silicon to service. The system integrates hardware accelerators with Azure AI and Azure IoT services, allowing users to start prototyping in minutes and gain real-time insights exactly where the action occurs.
The platform features the Azure Percept DK by ASUS, a pilot-ready development kit that includes a carrier board and the camera-enabled Azure Percept Vision system on module. This hardware is optimized for industrial and retail environments to power capabilities like shelf-stock analytics, object detection, and loss prevention while adhering to Microsoft's responsible AI principles.
