Users who clear the waitlist can now access the AI assistant directly from their smartphones, addressing the fact that a majority of searches occur on mobile devices. The integration brings the full capabilities of the desktop experience to mobile platforms.
In the mobile Bing app, users tap the center icon at the bottom of the screen to start chatting with the AI. The bot handles complex queries such as planning trips, generating menus, writing poems, and helping with coding. Users can also customize how they receive their answers by choosing formats like bullet points, text, or simplified responses.
The update introduces voice search functionality that allows users to speak to the chatbot in over a hundred languages. Additionally, Microsoft integrates the AI directly into Skype as a contact that users can chat with one-on-one or add to group conversations. Microsoft's text-to-speech technology reads the answers aloud for a completely hands-free experience.
