Microsoft Build Unveils Next Generation of AI Developer Tools
Microsoft uses its annual Build conference to expand its Copilot stack and introduce new frontier models that support text, image, and video data. The event also highlights how new Copilot+ PCs create an open platform for edge AI development.
Microsoft kicks off its annual Build developer conference by highlighting massive strides in artificial intelligence, including over 150 updates to Microsoft Copilot and 1.8 million paid subscribers for GitHub Copilot. The company builds on this momentum by introducing Copilot+ PCs, which serve as the fastest and most AI-ready Windows devices ever built to help developers create differentiated AI experiences on the edge.
During the event, Microsoft reveals new tools that allow developers to process data in motion through Microsoft Fabric to build intelligent applications. The tech giant also introduces new frontier models that expand AI capabilities beyond simple text prompts to support multimodal inputs like images and video, giving creators more ways to interact with and build upon AI systems.
About 200,000 people register for the three-day technical learning event, with 4,000 attending in person in Seattle and thousands more tuning in online. Through approximately 60 new product announcements and more than 300 sessions, Microsoft demonstrates how its open and flexible cloud platform empowers developers to innovate safely and responsibly across various industries.
