Microsoft Copilot Gains Real-Time Text Editing for Windows Insiders
Microsoft is rolling out a new Copilot Actions feature that allows Windows Insiders to rewrite and refine text directly within their apps using voice commands during Copilot Vision sessions.
Microsoft releases a new update for the Copilot app on Windows that brings real-time text editing capabilities to Windows Insiders. This new feature, known as Copilot Actions for Text Editing, allows users to rewrite, refine, or edit text seamlessly during active Copilot Vision sessions. By analyzing the screen, the AI assistant helps users modify their writing without interrupting their workflow.
To use this functionality, Insiders start a Vision session by selecting the glasses icon in the Copilot chat bar and choosing a window to share. Users simply place their cursor in a text field and speak natural commands, such as asking the AI to make the text more formal or simplify the wording. Copilot then provides a preview of the suggested edit directly in the application, allowing the user to accept or refine the change while staying focused on the task.
The Copilot Vision feature remains fully opt-in and requires users to enable the Copilot Actions toggle within the app's settings. The update is rolling out gradually to all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store, requiring Copilot app version 1.25121.60.0 or higher and Windows version 26200.6899 or later. Microsoft notes that this feature is available to Windows Insiders worldwide, excluding the European Economic Area, and continues to gather feedback to refine the experience.
