Microsoft Expands Bing AI Chatbot to Mobile with Voice Support
Microsoft brings its OpenAI-powered Bing chatbot to iOS and Android devices while introducing new voice command capabilities. The update also extends AI features to the mobile Edge browser and integrates the assistant directly into Skype.
Microsoft extends its new OpenAI-powered Bing chatbot to iOS and Android devices, allowing mobile users to access the AI assistant on the go. Users tap the Bing icon at the bottom of the app to start a chat session, where they can ask simple or complex questions and receive cited answers just like on the desktop version. The mobile experience offers multiple response formats, displaying the default answer, a simplified version, or a set of bullet points.
The software giant also brings AI features to the mobile version of its Edge browser, mirroring the capabilities recently introduced on desktop. Through a dedicated sidebar, mobile users can ask questions about the webpage they are viewing and have Edge summarize the contents or generate new text. Edge provides these answers in the same flexible formats as Bing, giving users control over how they consume information.
Alongside these mobile expansions, Microsoft adds voice command support to Bing so users can interact with the chatbot by speaking. Additionally, the company integrates Bing's conversational search features directly into Skype. These updates collectively make Microsoft's AI tools more accessible across different platforms and communication methods as the company continues to expand its AI footprint.
