Microsoft Ignite Highlights New Cross-Cloud Management and AI Knowledge Tools
Microsoft unveils Azure Arc for managing multi-cloud environments and Project Cortex, an AI-driven knowledge network, at its heavily packed Ignite conference.
Microsoft hosts its annual Ignite conference this week, delivering a massive wave of approximately 175 announcements aimed at IT professionals and developers. The event highlights a significant shift toward forward-looking technologies that address the evolving and complex role of enterprise IT management.
One of the most important unveilings is Azure Arc, a new tool that allows businesses to manage their Windows and Linux servers, as well as Kubernetes clusters, across any environment. This cross-cloud capability means IT teams use Azure to control resources housed on competing platforms like AWS and Google Cloud, effectively keeping enterprises inside the Microsoft ecosystem while solving multi-cloud management challenges.
Another major introduction is Project Cortex, which stands out as Microsoft's first new commercial service since the launch of Teams. This AI-powered knowledge network automatically analyzes documents and contracts across various company repositories to surface relevant information directly within everyday applications like Outlook, Teams, and Office.
