Microsoft Office Brings Full Mouse and Trackpad Support to iPadOS
Microsoft adds native mouse and trackpad functionality to its iPad Office apps, building on the desktop-like experience introduced with iPadOS 13.4. The update allows users to interact with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a way that closely mirrors a traditional computer.
Microsoft delivers on its promise by adding full trackpad and mouse support to the iPadOS versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This enhancement builds directly on the foundation Apple establishes with iPadOS 13.4, which first introduced cursor support and paved the way for the iPad to function as a more versatile productivity machine.
The new input functionality allows users to perform standard Office tasks with desktop-like precision. People can now easily highlight text, select cell ranges in Excel, and resize graphics using a mouse or trackpad, making these actions feel much more familiar to laptop and desktop users.
Beyond the new pointer integration, the update brings a clearer user interface and newly organized menus to the Office suite. Microsoft states that all of these improvements are rolling out to iPad users within the next couple of weeks.
