The Surface Neo boasts two 9-inch screens and runs the new Windows 10X operating system designed specifically for dual-screen devices. Users attach a magnetic keyboard and pen to either display, which automatically adjusts the screen layout to accommodate a trackpad, emojis, or minimized media. Meanwhile, the smaller Surface Duo shrinks the dual-screen concept into a pocket-friendly device with two 5.6-inch screens and runs on Google's Android operating system.
Both devices allow users to run multiple applications simultaneously or turn a second screen into a keyboard or gamepad. The Surface Duo seamlessly syncs with Windows 10 PCs through the My Phone app, enabling users to handle calls and messages directly from their laptop. Microsoft plans to release both the Neo and Duo next year as it works closely with developers to build compatible software.
