Microsoft unveils Microsoft Copilot, a unified everyday AI companion that consolidates its various AI tools into a single seamless experience. By combining chat interfaces with large language models, Copilot allows users to ask for what they need in natural language and receive answers, creations, or direct actions. This consolidation brings together the AI capabilities previously scattered across GitHub, Microsoft 365, Bing, and Edge into one central hub.
The new Copilot stands out by incorporating contextual awareness from the web, work data, and current PC activity to deliver highly relevant assistance. Microsoft emphasizes that privacy and security remain foundational to this tool. Users access the AI companion easily within Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Edge, and Bing, either as a standalone app or through a simple right-click when immediate help is needed.
The rollout begins with the free Windows 11 update starting September 26 and expands to Bing, Edge, and Microsoft 365 throughout the fall. This update introduces over 150 new features, integrating AI-powered enhancements directly into familiar applications like Paint, Photos, and Clipchamp. Additionally, Bing now supports OpenAI’s latest DALL.E 3 model to generate improved images and offers more personalized search results.
