Microsoft Unveils Custom AI Chips and Copilot Productivity Gains at Ignite 2023

To support this growing AI demand, Microsoft fundamentally rethinks its cloud infrastructure by introducing two custom-designed microchips. The Microsoft Azure Maia chip serves as an AI accelerator tailored for cloud-based training and inferencing of large models like ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot. Alongside it, the Microsoft Azure Cobalt chip provides an Arm-based architecture to optimize general cloud workloads.
