Nauto Absorbs Defunct AI Safety Startup Newton Technologies
Nauto brings on the team from the now-shuttered Newton Technologies to boost its driver safety and behavior analytics efforts.
Nauto, a SoftBank-backed mobility startup focused on driver safety and autonomous vehicle training, absorbs the team from the defunct Newton Technologies. Although Newton ceases its independent operations, its employees join Nauto to advance their shared mission of eliminating driving-related deaths through artificial intelligence.
Newton Technologies specializes in AI solutions for connected mobility, safety mapping, and driver behavior analytics. Its technology provides drivers with personalized risk profiles, optimized safer routes, and real-time warnings, which complements Nauto Prevent, a product Nauto launches to combat distracted driving.
This strategic integration brings additional AI talent into Nauto's growing business, which counts major automotive investors like General Motors Ventures, Toyota AI Ventures, and BMW iVentures among its backers. By combining forces, the unified team aims to enhance the value of Nauto's safety platform for commercial drivers relying on the system to stay safe on the road.
