NBCUniversal launches its Peacock streaming service to the general public across the United States, expanding beyond its initial availability on Comcast's Xfinity platforms. Anyone in the country now signs up and accesses the platform on a wide variety of devices, including Apple products, Android devices, gaming consoles, and select smart TVs. However, the service currently lacks agreements to reach viewers on Amazon Fire TV or Roku devices.
The platform stands out by offering a robust, free ad-supported tier that includes more than 13,000 hours of content. This free version provides users with classic NBC shows like "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation," popular movies, and next-day access to current series. Additionally, the free tier features live sports coverage, including exclusive Premier League soccer matches, U.S. Open golf, and an NFL Wild Card Playoff Game.
While the free option offers plenty to watch, full access to Peacock Originals requires a paid subscription. Viewers pay $4.99 per month for Peacock Premium, which includes ads, or $9.99 per month for an ad-free experience. The service also plans to release a lineup of exclusive original series, giving subscribers even more reasons to upgrade their plans.
