Neocloud Lambda Raises $1 Billion in Debt to Fuel Nvidia Chip Purchases for Microsoft

Lambda, an AI cloud company that buys computing chips and rents them out to businesses, raises $1 billion in private, short-dated debt to purchase Nvidia's AI chips, which it plans to lease to Microsoft, according to Bloomberg. JP Morgan Chase arranges the deal, and its terms suggest Lambda expects to deploy the chips rapidly and generate revenue quickly enough to repay the debt in short order.

The financing continues a pattern for Lambda, which uses loans to fund GPU infrastructure tied to specific customers. In May, the company closes a $1 billion secured credit facility, and earlier this week it announces a $926 million loan to fund Nvidia GB300 GPUs for a deployment it is under contract to provide to Nvidia itself. The new debt arrives as Lambda reportedly engages in talks for a $3 billion pre-IPO round, following a $1.5 billion venture raise last November at a $5.43 billion post-money valuation, according to PitchBook data.

Lambda is far from alone in leaning on debt to fuel the AI buildout. Data compiled by Bloomberg shows banks and tech companies raise more than $400 billion in AI-related debt globally so far in 2026, underscoring how lenders and startups alike wager that demand for computing power keeps climbing.
