New Accuser Says Grok Turned Childhood Photo Into Thousands of Explicit Images

A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 joins a lawsuit against Elon Musk's xAI, alleging that her stepfather uses the company's chatbot Grok to transform a childhood photo of her into explicit imagery. According to The Washington Post, the stepfather manipulates a photo taken when she is 11 years old to create more than 7,000 explicit images. The woman says her stepfather dies by suicide two days after law enforcement uncovers the images during a raid.

The lawsuit, originally filed by three Tennessee teenagers, accuses xAI of failing to take basic precautions to prevent Grok from creating explicit images of real people, including minors. The plaintiffs seek class action status for their suit. The case follows an incident earlier this year in which X is flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images.

"Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly," the woman says. "It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse." TechCrunch reaches out to xAI, now part of SpaceX, for comment. The case adds to growing scrutiny of AI safety practices at Musk's companies, including a separate lawsuit claiming xAI fires an engineer who raises alarms about Grok safety.
