New AI-Powered Death Clock App Predicts User Mortality and Suggests Life-Extending Habits
A new application called Death Clock uses artificial intelligence to estimate a user's exact date of death and provides personalized advice to help them live longer. The tool aims to offer more accurate predictions than traditional life tables by analyzing detailed health and lifestyle data.
A new application called Death Clock uses artificial intelligence trained on over 1,200 life expectancy studies to predict the exact date of a user's death. Developer Brent Franson claims this AI-driven approach offers a significant improvement over standard life tables by analyzing a detailed questionnaire that covers basics like age and gender alongside family history, mental health, and chronic conditions.
After completing the intake survey, the app provides users with a specific projected death date and shows how adopting better habits could potentially extend their lifespan. For example, a recent trial of the application estimated a user's death at age 90, but suggested that improved lifestyle choices could push that timeline all the way to 103.
Users pay a $40 annual subscription fee to access a visual countdown clock to their estimated death date along with personalized recommendations for improving their health habits. Beyond the novelty of sharing mortality predictions online, financial experts note that accurate life expectancy estimates have practical value, such as helping retirees avoid the risk of outliving their savings.
