Nikon Targets New Photographers With Affordable Z5 Full-Frame Camera
Nikon introduces the Z5, an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a 24.3-megapixel sensor, in-body image stabilization, and dual SD card slots. The durable camera offers 4K video recording and advanced autofocus capabilities for emerging creators.
Nikon unveils the Z5 as its new entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera designed specifically for emerging creators and first-time mirrorless users. The camera features a 24.3-megapixel CMOS sensor powered by an EXPEED 6 processor, delivering a continuous shooting speed of 4.5 frames per second. It also includes a robust magnesium alloy body with weather-sealing that matches the durability of the higher-end Z6 and Z7 models.
The Z5 includes highly requested features like in-body 5-axis vibration reduction and dual UHS-II SD card slots for secure backup or overflow storage. Photographers benefit from a 3.6-million-dot electronic viewfinder, a 3.2-inch tilting touchscreen, and a 273-point autofocus system with Eye-Detection for both humans and animals. Additionally, the camera is the first from Nikon to support continuous power delivery through a USB port.
On the video side, the Z5 captures 4K footage at 30 frames per second with a 1.7x crop, alongside full-frame 1080p recording at 60 frames per second. Video creators have access to focus peaking, fast phase-detection autofocus, and a combination of in-body and electronic image stabilization. Other notable creative tools include in-camera time-lapse, multiple exposure modes, and built-in webcam functionality for easy streaming.
