NVIDIA Expands Omniverse Platform to Bring Millions Into the Metaverse
NVIDIA announces major integrations with Blender and Adobe to open its Omniverse metaverse platform to millions of new users. Over 50,000 creators and 500 companies already use the collaborative 3D simulation tool.
NVIDIA announces a major expansion of its Omniverse platform at SIGGRAPH, bringing millions of new users into the metaverse through new integrations with Blender and Adobe. Blender now supports Universal Scene Description (USD), allowing artists to access Omniverse production pipelines directly. Additionally, Adobe collaborates with NVIDIA on a Substance 3D plugin that brings Substance Material support to Omniverse.
The Omniverse platform enables designers, artists, and reviewers to work together in real time across leading software applications in a shared virtual world from anywhere. Over 50,000 individual creators download the platform since its open beta launch in December, and professionals at more than 500 companies currently evaluate it. Notable organizations exploring the technology include SHoP Architects, South Park, and Lockheed Martin.
Industry experts praise NVIDIA for actually delivering on the promise of the metaverse rather than just talking about it. The platform allows creators to build amazing virtual worlds that look, feel, and behave just like the physical world, with the potential to transform nearly every industry. By making truly collaborative, creative innovation possible in a common virtual space, Omniverse provides the foundation for the future of connected 3D design.
