NVIDIA Expands Omniverse Platform With VR Support and Mobile Remote Tools
NVIDIA introduces Omniverse VR for collaborative 3D scene building and launches a mobile remote app at GTC 2021. The company also makes Omniverse Enterprise generally available for organizations.
NVIDIA reveals Omniverse VR at GTC 2021, marking the first full-image, real-time ray-traced VR environment. This new feature enables creators to collaborate on 3D scenes together within the same virtual world. The company keeps platform support details under wraps but promises a release in the near future.
Alongside the VR reveal, NVIDIA introduces Omniverse Remote, a tool that lets users connect to Omniverse applications via Android and iOS devices. Smartphone users view ray-traced assets on their screens and utilize their devices for face, hand, and body tracking. Additionally, the new Omniverse Showroom app allows Open Beta participants to easily explore physics and rendering technologies without needing deep technical knowledge.
NVIDIA expands software integration through new Omniverse Connectors for apps like Reallusion iClone and Replica Studios, with upcoming plugins for Adobe Substance 3D and Maxon Cinema4D. The company also launches the November Studio Driver to support these features and officially makes Omniverse Enterprise generally available. This enterprise release includes essential connectors for popular tools like Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Revit, SketchUp, and Unreal Engine.
