Nvidia stakes its claim as a foundational builder of the metaverse by expanding its Omniverse platform with new hardware and software tools. The company envisions Omniverse as a planetary core that connects virtual 3D communities, allowing users to work, play, and interact through enhanced digital experiences.
A major addition is Omniverse Avatar, a system that generates intelligent, interactive AI avatars for real-world applications like restaurant ordering and in-car assistance. These avatars use simultaneous AI models for speech recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing to understand context, read moods, and hold real-time conversations with humans.
To handle the heavy computing demands of these avatars, Nvidia introduces the Unified Compute Framework, which models AI as microservices across single or hybrid systems. The company also integrates its massive Megatron-Turing language model into this ecosystem, bringing advanced conversational capabilities to tools like the Drive Concierge in-car assistant.
