Nvidia Pushes GPU Chips as Foundation for New 5G Networks

Securing a place in these ubiquitous 5G antennas represents a massive opportunity for the chip manufacturer.
To support this push, Nvidia releases new Aerial software development kits that run on its EGX stack. The CUDA Virtual Network Function toolkit provides optimized processing, while the CUDA Baseband handles a GPU-accelerated signal processing pipeline. These tools allow telecom companies to take full advantage of 5G network slicing, which enables them to adjust network capacity on a session-by-session basis.
Nvidia relies on key collaborations to strengthen its market position. The company works with Ericsson to virtualize radio access networks, making the technology cheaper, more scalable, and more energy efficient. Additionally, Nvidia integrates its EGX hardware and software more tightly with Microsoft Azure cloud services to deliver a comprehensive 5G infrastructure solution.
