Nvidia Unveils Cloud Engine to Simplify Metaverse Avatar Creation

Nvidia introduces the Omniverse Avatar Cloud Engine to help enterprises easily build interactive digital avatars for the metaverse. The company also shares plans to expand its universal scene description framework alongside partners like Pixar.

Nvidia introduces a suite of new tools designed to help organizations easily create content for the metaverse. Announced at the Siggraph 2022 conference, these releases include a cloud-based system for building digital avatars and updates to the existing Omniverse platform. This push aligns with industry predictions that the metaverse market will exceed $50 billion in the next four years.

The centerpiece of the announcement is the Omniverse Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE), which provides AI models and services for developing intelligent avatars. These digital assistants understand multiple languages, interact with their surrounding environments, and respond naturally to various prompts. By hosting these tools in the cloud, Nvidia removes technical barriers that previously make avatar development difficult for enterprises.

In addition to the avatar engine, Nvidia reveals collaborative plans to evolve the Universal Scene Description (USD) framework alongside partners such as Pixar. USD serves as a critical foundation for visual effects, architecture, robotics, and design within 3D spaces. Ultimately, Nvidia aims to make these creation tools widely accessible so more businesses participate in building the metaverse.
