NVIDIA Unveils GR00T Foundation Model and Jetson Thor Chip for Humanoid Robots

NVIDIA announces Project GR00T, a general-purpose foundation model designed specifically for humanoid robots to advance the field of embodied AI. The model enables robots to understand natural language and learn physical skills by observing human actions, allowing them to quickly develop the coordination and dexterity needed to navigate real-world environments.
Alongside the software model, NVIDIA reveals Jetson Thor, a new computing platform built to handle complex robotic tasks and safe human interaction. This new computer features a next-generation GPU based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture that delivers 800 teraflops of AI performance, alongside an integrated functional safety processor and high-speed Ethernet connectivity.
NVIDIA also rolls out major upgrades to its Isaac robotics platform, adding generative AI tools and simulation infrastructure to support these advanced models. The company collaborates with leading humanoid robot manufacturers, including Agility Robotics, Boston Dynamics, Figure AI, and Unitree Robotics, to build a comprehensive AI platform for the emerging robotics industry.
