NVIDIA Unveils Medical Supercomputer and Powerful New GPUs at GTC 2018

NVIDIA showcases a variety of new products and technologies at its annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC 2018). The highlights include a cloud-based medical imaging platform, a professional visualization graphics card, and a powerful new AI supercomputer designed to handle massive computational workloads.
The chipmaker unveils Project Clara, a virtual GPU-powered medical imaging supercomputer that connects to legacy medical instruments to provide modern AI and image processing capabilities. For professional visualization, NVIDIA introduces the Quadro GV100, a $9,000 Volta-based card featuring 32GB of memory and advanced real-time ray-tracing technology that performs complex renders up to ten times faster than a CPU alone.
NVIDIA also expands its supercomputer lineup with the DGX-2, a $399,000 system that doubles the GPU power of the previous DGX-1 model. By packing 16 Volta-based Tesla GPUs into a single rack, the DGX-2 delivers significantly more CUDA cores to accelerate deep learning and artificial intelligence research.
