Nvidia makes a major splash at CES by announcing a broad expansion of its GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards for mobile and desktop gamers. The company reveals that more than 160 new laptop designs featuring these mobile GPUs are launching to serve a massive global audience of over 3 billion gamers and tens of millions of content creators. Nvidia notes that the gaming market continues to grow rapidly, with an expected addition of 150 million new gamers this year alone.
Headlining the mobile announcements is the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU, which marks the first time an 80-class Ti card is available on mobile PCs. This powerful mobile chip supports 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and reportedly outpaces older desktops equipped with the previous-generation Titan RTX graphics card. For users who need slightly less power, the new RTX 3070 Ti mobile GPU delivers 100 frames-per-second performance at 1440p resolution and operates 70% faster than the older RTX 2070 Super.
These new mobile laptops adopt Nvidia's fourth-generation Max-Q technologies to optimize performance and efficiency, and they hit the market starting February 1 with the 3070 Ti models starting at $1,499. Beyond hardware, Nvidia uses CES to showcase updates to its autonomous driving efforts and new partnerships that broaden the reach of its GeForce Now game streaming platform.
