Nvidia Unveils RTX Studio Laptops to Challenge MacBook Pro
Nvidia introduces a new line of RTX-powered Studio laptops designed specifically for creative professionals to rival the 15-inch MacBook Pro.
Nvidia unveils a new line of Studio laptops powered by its RTX graphics processing units to compete directly with the 15-inch MacBook Pro. The company targets creative professionals, such as video editors, photographers, and graphic designers, with these high-performance machines. Seventeen different laptop models from major manufacturing partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Razer make up this initial rollout.
These devices feature powerful Quadro RTX 5000, 4000, or 3000 GPUs, as well as GeForce RTX 2080, 2070, and 2060 graphics options. Nvidia claims these new laptops perform up to seven times faster than the competing MacBook Pro. The top-tier models include 16GB of graphics memory, 4K displays, and Nvidia's Max-Q technology to maintain a thin and lightweight design.
The hardware launch accompanies a new software platform called Nvidia Studio, which includes specialized SDKs and drivers to accelerate graphics rendering tasks. This software suite also integrates the CUDA-X AI platform to automate repetitive creative workflows like color matching in videos or tagging photos. The Studio laptops hit retail shelves in June with starting prices set at $1,599.
