OneCell Diagnostics raises $16 million in funding to expand its AI-powered blood test that predicts cancer recurrence. The precision oncology startup currently serves nearly 10,000 patients in India and plans to replicate this success in the U.S. market. Unlike traditional scans and tissue biopsies, OneCell uses a simple blood draw to capture and isolate circulating tumor cells.
The company employs a proprietary method called True-Single-Cell-Multi-omics to analyze these blood samples. By combining tumor cell DNA with RNA and cell surface protein testing, OneCell provides at least 100 times more information than standard liquid biopsy tests. This deep analysis allows for highly accurate recurrence predictions tailored to each patient.
To help doctors use this complex data, OneCell develops an app called iCare that acts as a precision oncology console. The app uses AI and machine learning to help oncologists interpret test reports, bridging the gap between medical knowledge and precision oncology expertise. The startup ultimately aims to make precision oncology accessible to doctors worldwide.
