OpenAI Adds Chat History Toggle and Data Export to ChatGPT
OpenAI gives ChatGPT users more control over their data by introducing a chat history disable feature and a new data export option. The company also previews a forthcoming ChatGPT Business subscription designed for professionals and enterprises.
OpenAI introduces new privacy controls for ChatGPT, allowing users to disable their chat history directly from the settings menu. When this feature is activated, conversations no longer appear in the left sidebar, giving users the ability to choose which chats are used to train OpenAI's AI models. This update provides a much simpler way to manage data compared to the previous opt-out process.
Even when chat history is disabled, OpenAI retains the conversations for 30 days to monitor for abuse before permanently deleting them from the system. Additionally, the company rolls out a new data export tool that lets users request a file containing all their conversations and relevant account data, which is delivered via email.
Alongside these privacy updates, OpenAI previews a new subscription tier called ChatGPT Business. Aimed at professionals and enterprises that require greater control over their data, this upcoming plan promises to follow the API's data usage policies and will not use end-user data for model training by default. The company expects to launch ChatGPT Business in the coming months.
