OpenAI Begins Rolling Out ChatGPT Astra to $20 Plus Subscribers
OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT Astra, its most powerful model to date, to subscribers of the $20 Plus plan. The rollout is happening gradually, and Astra may appear in ChatGPT Work before it becomes available in the regular Chat interface. Plus users who do not yet see Astra in the model picker are advised to check the Work section.
Astra is already available to Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and it is also live in the API. OpenAI says usage is included within existing subscription limits, so Plus users do not need a separate plan, though extra credits can be purchased for additional usage. The company previously stated it may take a few days for the model to reach all Plus and Business users.
Astra is OpenAI's new flagship model, designed for computer use, browsing, coding, science, cybersecurity, and longer professional tasks. OpenAI says it significantly outperforms GPT-5.6 Sol at maintaining context during complex work. The company has not said whether or when free users will get access, and for now they remain limited to GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.
